Blue Coat GCSE Results 2019

Some of the many Blue Coat students who achieved at least 10 GCSE grades of 7 and above.

(L-R) Charlotte Manning, Mahfuzah Fariha, Amelia Briggs, Joshua Blaylock, Mia Farndon, Elliot Barker, Rachel Okpoti, Harjeevan Panesar, Zoe Kerrigan and Hardeep Purewal.

Blue Coat students excelled in their GCSE examinations in 2019.

A staggering 35 students achieved at least 8 GCSEs with grades 7-9.

The 2018 figure of 77 grade 9s was impressive enough, but in 2019 it was almost doubled to 149. With over two thousand GCSEs being sat over 30% of the grades achieved were 7+.

Headteacher, Mrs. Victoria Shelley commented: “What pleases me most is that Blue Coat has a proven reputation for guiding students successfully through their GCSEs. Whilst the achievements of our most able students clearly deserve due acknowledgement, we are particularly pleased that over three quarters of our students achieved at least a grade 5 in English, with 55% of our students achieving at least a grade 5 in BOTH English and Mathematics. We are an inclusive school.”

Over 80% of all grades were 4+.

Mrs. Henden, Deputy Headteacher, was equally ebullient. “GCSEs are a passport to future aspirations. It was pleasing to see so many happy faces when the students picked up their results. The number of students choosing to continue their education into the sixth form will be very high. The school is also expecting to enroll many external applicants for September.”

Blue Coat Students Excel

Blue Coat sixth form students performed exceptionally well in their A level and BTEC examinations in the summer of 2019. Of the 357 Advanced level examinations sat, almost half resulted in a Grade B or above, with well over three quarters C and above. There were some excellent individual achievements with a staggering 21 students achieving at A,A,B or equivalent, or better!

Mrs. Shelley, Head Teacher, was delighted. “We expected some excellent results from this cohort of students, and we were not disappointed. It is wonderful to see so many of our students achieve or exceed expectations.

Miss Davoile, Head of Sixth Form commented: “Students and staff alike have been duly rewarded for all their hard work. There is a tremendous work ethic in the Sixth Form at Blue Coat, which has resulted in so many dreams being fulfilled.”

Amongst the numerous individual successes Nikhil Aggarwal achieved 4 A*, and Maisie Ferris 2A* and 1A.

The BTEC results were also excellent.

The school is expecting a bumper year for enrolment into the Sixth Form in September.
