The Blue Coat community has been saddened by news of the death of Mr David Roberts. Mr Roberts was a long serving member of staff who retired in 2016. He was appointed by Mr. Bill Grimes, the first headteacher of the school on the Terry Road site. In his long teaching career he taught a variety of subjects including Business Studies, Economics, Modern Foreign Languages and History. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team Mr Roberts was responsible for introducing many innovative practices that helped to build and support vocational education in the school. Countless students benefited not only from his teaching but also his wit, life experiences and wisdom. More than this, however, Mr Roberts opened up avenues of experience to thousands of pupils through his organisation of extra curricular trips which served to give so many pupils rich life experiences and memories to cherish, epitomising the notion that we should ‘live life to the full’. Mr Roberts will be sorely missed by the entire Blue Coat community. Rest in Peace David!
