Church of England Publications

At our school, we are guided by key publications from the Church of England that shape our educational ethos and practices. These resources provide a framework for fostering a holistic and inclusive learning environment.

Vision for Education (2016): This document outlines the Church of England’s vision for education, emphasising the importance of fostering the development of every child—spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally. It encourages schools to provide an education that nurtures the whole person and prepares students for a meaningful life.

Collective Worship in Church of England Schools: This guidance emphasises the significance of collective worship in enriching the spiritual life of our school community. It provides principles for planning and leading worship that inspires and engages students, fostering a sense of community and reflection.

Inclusion: Flourishing for All: This Church of England guidance provides schools with practical support for creating inclusive environments where every child is loved, supported and respected. The suite focuses on preventing and responding to bullying linked to protected characteristics, including homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying, race, faith and belief, SEND and sexual harassment and violence against women and girls.

RE Statement of Entitlement for Church Schools: This statement sets out the expectations for Religious Education (RE) in Church of England schools. It ensures that students receive a comprehensive and balanced education in religious studies, promoting understanding, respect, and dialogue among different faiths.

RSHE Principles (CofE Publication): The Relationships, Sex, and Health Education (RSHE) principles guide how schools approach these crucial topics. They emphasise a values-based education that promotes healthy relationships, respect for others, and an understanding of emotional wellbeing within a Christian framework.

SIAMS Evaluation Schedule (2018): The Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) evaluation schedule provides criteria for assessing the effectiveness of Church schools. It focuses on the school’s Christian character, leadership, and the impact of its education on the spiritual development of students.

Valuing All God’s Children Report (2017): This report addresses issues of equality and inclusivity within Church schools. It promotes a commitment to ensuring that every child is valued and supported, regardless of their background or identity, aligning with the Church's teachings on love and acceptance.

Together, these publications guide our mission to provide a nurturing, inclusive, and values-driven education, rooted in the principles of the Church of England. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.
