Thursday 20 August 2026 Year 11 Celebrates Outstanding GCSE Outcomes Blue Coat Church of England School and Music College is celebrating another excellent year of GCSE results in 2026, recognising the hard work, resilience and ambition of its Year 11 students. Across all subjects, students achieved 76.2% Grades 9 to 4 and 64.7% Grades 9 to 5. At the highest grades, Grade 9s almost doubled from 74 to 160, while Grade 8s rose by 68%, increasing from 151 to 222. Overall, Grades 7 to 9 increased from 25.6% to 31.3%, a rise of 5.7 percentage points. In English and Maths, 52.9% of students achieved Grade 5 and above, while 69.5% achieved Grade 4 and above, both significantly above historical local and national averages. The results reflect the dedication of students and staff, alongside the continued support of parents and carers. Blue Coat wishes every Year 11 student success for the future and looks forward to welcoming returning and new students into its thriving Sixth Form community this September.

Thursday 13 August 2026 Sixth Form Celebrates Year 13 A-Level Results 2026! Blue Coat Sixth Form is celebrating the achievements of its Year 13 students following A Level Results Day 2026. Students achieved strong results across the Sixth Form, with 20.0% of grades awarded at A* to A, 49.1% at A* to B and 77.3% at A* to C. Year 13 students are now progressing to exciting destinations including the University of Oxford, University of Birmingham, University of Exeter and many more leading universities across the UK.

Wednesday 17 June 2026 Blue Coat Named National Secondary School of the Year Silver Winner Blue Coat Church of England School and Music College has been named a Silver Winner in the Making a Difference – Secondary School of the Year category at the prestigious Pearson National Teaching Awards. Announced on National Thank a Teacher Day, the award places Blue Coat among just six secondary schools nationally to receive this recognition. Often described as the "Oscars of Education", the awards celebrate schools making an exceptional impact on young people and their communities. The school will now progress to the national finals in November, where Gold Award winners will be announced at a ceremony in London and featured on BBC One's The One Show. The achievement recognises Blue Coat's commitment to helping every student flourish through outstanding opportunities, strong partnerships and a culture of aspiration, service and care.

Thursday 4 June 2026 Blue Coat celebrates Gold Award for global citizenship Blue Coat Church of England School and Music College has been awarded Gold status in Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours programme, recognising its outstanding commitment to global citizenship, social justice and courageous advocacy. Through initiatives including Interfaith Week, Refugee Week, Human Rights Day and an international partnership with a school in India, students have explored global issues and taken meaningful action to make a difference. The prestigious award celebrates schools that help young people understand global poverty, develop empathy and become active citizens working towards a fairer world. Blue Coat’s achievement reflects the dedication of students and staff in creating positive change locally and globally.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 Blue Coat Hosts Inspiring National Secondary Leaders Network Event Last week, Blue Coat CofE School Coventry proudly hosted the National Secondary Leaders Network, bringing together young leaders, adult leaders, chaplains and education partners from across the country for an inspiring day focused on hope, community and pupil leadership. Centred around the theme *Inclusive Community: Becoming Beacons in Your Community*, the event featured reflective worship, leadership workshops, keynote speakers and student led discussions exploring reconciliation, inclusion, faith and civic action. Hosted in partnership with the National Society for Education and leading national organisations, the event empowered students to share their voices, lead with confidence and inspire positive change within their schools and communities. Staff and pupils alike left feeling inspired, energised and hopeful for the future.
