Welcome to Blue Coat Church of England School & Music College

At Blue Coat Church of England School, our vision is “Living life in all its fullness”. We exist to equip our students to live life in all its fullness by providing excellent education which is distinctively Christian and inclusive of all. We aim to provide a broad & ambitious curriculum that provides all students with the opportunity to flourish academically and achieve their god given potential.

In John 10:10 in the Bible, we hear of Jesus saying that ‘Life in all its fullness’ is found in Him. It is God’s desire to see us flourishing in abundant Kingdom living – so that inspires everything we are and all we do at Blue Coat.

We want all our children and staff to live an abundant life; academic success is important yet we recognise that personal and spiritual development are a priority and our role as educators is to support the development of the whole child.

GCSE Results Day

Blue Coat students have excelled in their GCSE examinations in 2022. We are absolutely delighted with the results they have achieved after two challenging years of the pandemic. With over two thousand GCSEs being sat, we are thrilled that over 33% of these grades were achieved at Grade 7 or higher. Whilst our most able students have performed exceptionally well, we are particularly pleased that over 80% of our students achieved a Grade 5 in English and over 60% in Maths. Over 86% of all grades were 4+ and 73% were grade 5+. Our progress score (unvalidated) is +0.48 which demonstrates just how well our students have achieved.

We were delighted to see so many happy faces when the students picked up their results and the number of students choosing to continue their education into the sixth form is our highest yet. We are also enrolling a number of external applicants for September following the excellent A level results of last week.

Results Day:

Congratulations to all of our sixth form students who received their results today.  We are delighted with their achievements.  They are the first students to have taken summer exams marked and graded by exam boards since 2019 after two years of challenging circumstances created by the pandemic.  Of the 512 Advanced level examinations sat, nearly a third of all grades were A*-A and 60% were awarded A*-B.  There were some excellent individual achievements with a staggering 22 students achieving all A or A* grades. The BTEC results were also excellent.

Mrs. Shelley, Headteacher, was delighted. “We expected some excellent results from this cohort of students, and we were not disappointed. I am so proud to see so many of our students achieve or exceed expectations especially given the challenges of the past two years.”

Miss Davoile, Head of Sixth Form commented: “Students and staff alike have been duly rewarded for all their hard work. There is a tremendous work ethic in the Sixth Form at Blue Coat, which has resulted in so many dreams being fulfilled.”
