Curriculum Intent

The PE Department at Blue Coat School pride themselves on delivering a diverse curriculum which promotes a healthy active lifestyle and an enjoyment for physical activity whilst promoting the importance of lifelong transferable skills. We recognise the vital role PE has in enabling our students to live life in all its fullness so we ensure our practice is embedded through our C.H.R.I.S.T values which underpin everything we do as a department.

Across the Core Key Stage 3/4 curriculum, students participate across a variety of activities in accordance with the national curriculum enhancing a multitude of knowledge, skills and understanding through Physical Education thus impacting and increasing participation. As a result of our core provision, students have the opportunity to enroll on a range of qualifications across key stage 4 & 5.Our vision is to aim to offer “something for everyone” across our pedagogical intent of “Equity over Equality”, appealing to and broadening the specific interests of ALL students through the diversity of opportunities Physical Education & Sports Science has to offer.
