Welcome to Blue Coat Church of England School.

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our school community. At Blue Coat, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. Our rich history and strong Christian values guide us in fostering a sense of belonging and purpose among our students.

Our vision is “Living life in all its fullness”. We exist to equip our students to live life in all its fullness by providing excellent education that is distinctively Christian and inclusive of all. We aim to provide a broad and ambitious curriculum that offers all students the opportunity to flourish academically and achieve their God-given potential.

In John 10:10 in the Bible, we hear of Jesus saying that ‘Life in all its fullness’ is found in Him. It is God’s desire to see us flourishing in abundant Kingdom living – so that inspires everything we are and all we do at Blue Coat.

Blue Coat GCSE Success

Blue Coat students have once again excelled in their GCSE examinations in 2024. We are absolutely delighted with the results they have achieved. With well over two thousand GCSEs being sat, we are thrilled that outcomes are once again significantly above national average.  Students achieving both English and Maths at Grade 4+ and Grade 5+ has increased since last year’s results with 54.5% achieving at the higher level which is significantly higher than the national average. Whilst our most able students have performed exceptionally well, we are particularly pleased that 76.5% of our students passed both their English and Maths GCSEs which is again significantly above national average and maintains the strong GCSE results profile of previous years.  Our positive progress score demonstrates the impact of a Blue Coat education.  We are proud of all our students and the hard work they have displayed supported by excellent staff and committed parents/carers whom have enabled them to flourish.  Most importantly, Blue Coat students embody our vision of ‘living life in all its fullness’ and repeatedly demonstrate our CHRIST values of Care, Hard work, Respect, Integrity, Servanthood and Togetherness.

We were delighted to see so many happy faces when the students picked up their results. The number of students choosing to continue their education into the sixth form remains high following the Outstanding Ofsted grade awarded last academic year. We are also enrolling a number of external applicants for September and look forward to welcoming all students to our exceptional sixth form to continue their studies.

Blue Coat A level and BTEC Success

Congratulations to all of our students who received their results today.  We are absolutely delighted with their achievements.

As one of the largest and most inclusive sixth forms in the city with over 553 entries, we are delighted to report that our results have impressively improved across all key measures from 2023 outcomes, reflecting the outstanding nature of the Blue Coat sixth form as judged by Ofsted last year. Our new sixth form study centre, dedicated staff and committed students have resulted in excellent outcomes this year.

This cohort have achieved particularly impressive results with 23.9% of grades being awarded at A*-A and 9.9% at A* grade at A level.  Nearly 50% of all grades awarded were at A*-B and these excellent results have led to fantastic destinations for our students including a wide range of universities, courses and apprenticeships of which we are incredibly proud.

We wish all of our students every success in the next stage of their lives as they leave Blue Coat and continue to ‘live life in all its fullness’.
