Post-16 Programmes

At our school, we are committed to providing a wealth of opportunities for our Post-16 students to support their future pathways—whether that be university, apprenticeships, or direct employment.

Realising Opportunities – This initiative offers students invaluable insights into higher education, enhancing their understanding of university life and expectations.

Sutton Trust Summer Schools – We are excited to announce that applications for the Sutton Trust Summer Schools with Warwick University are now open. This program allows students to experience university life firsthand, preparing them for the next steps in their educational journey.

Apprenticeship Information – We offer comprehensive resources and guidance on apprenticeships, helping students explore various career options while gaining practical experience.

Webinars – Our engaging webinars cover a range of subjects, providing essential knowledge and advice. These sessions are an excellent way for students to learn more about their chosen fields and demonstrate their commitment to potential employers and universities.

Russell Group Universities Virtual Fair – Our virtual fair connects students with representatives from prestigious Russell Group universities, offering insights into application processes, course options, and student life.

These initiatives not only enhance students’ understanding and preparedness for their future but also serve as valuable experiences to include in Personal Statements for university applications and job submissions. As face-to-face work experience may be limited, participating in webinars is a fantastic way to stay informed and engaged with career opportunities.

We encourage all students to take full advantage of these programs to help shape their future!

UCAS

At Blue Coat Sixth Form, we provide dedicated one-to-one support for students navigating the university application process. Our knowledgeable staff guide students through the UCAS system, helping them craft compelling personal statements and prepare for interviews.

We enhance this support with assemblies featuring representatives from various universities. We also encourage students to attend open days and taster days, allowing them to experience campus life and gain insights into their chosen courses.

Our commitment to excellence is evident in our students’ achievements, with many securing places at prestigious Russell Group universities, including scholarships at Oxbridge. We aim to equip our students with the confidence and knowledge they need to succeed in their future academic pursuits.

Apprenticeships

At Blue Coat Sixth Form, we provide tailored careers advice and support for students exploring apprenticeship opportunities. Our dedicated staff guide them through the application process, helping with CV writing and interview preparation.

In recent years, many students have secured apprenticeships with local providers, including Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). These positions offer valuable work experience and help students develop essential skills in real-world environments.

By fostering connections with local businesses, we aim to enhance our students’ employability and equip them for successful careers. We are committed to supporting students every step of the way on their apprenticeship journeys.
