Personal, Social Health Education plays an essential part in students’ experiences here at Blue Coat. Life Skills given to students helps them to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society. From making responsible decisions about substances to succeeding in their first job, PSHE education helps pupils to manage many of the most critical opportunities, challenges and responsibilities they will face growing up.
Students in year 7 to 10 receive a one-hour lesson every fortnight taught by specialist teachers or external professionals on topics covering three main themes (including RSE).
Students in year 11 receive a thematic carousel delivered in curriculum time covering the three main themes (including RSE).
Students in the sixth form receive a specialist PSHE assembly regularly as well as a dedicated Microsoft teams’ channel for PSHE lessons and guidance.

- Sex and Relationships – Healthy relationships, LGBT, Parenting, Sexual Health
- Living in the Wider World – Careers, fire/road safety, Prevent, British Values
