Personal, Social Health Education plays an essential part in students’ experiences here at Blue Coat. Life Skills given to students helps them to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society. From making responsible decisions about alcohol to succeeding in their first job, PSHE education helps pupils to manage many of the most critical opportunities, challenges and responsibilities they will face growing up.

From September 2020 all students will receive a one hour lesson every fortnight taught by specialist teachers or external professionals on topics covering three main themes (examples are given of content):

  1. Health and Wellbeing – First Aid, Drugs and Alcohol, Personal Hygiene
  2. Sex and Relationships – Healthy relationships, LGBT, Parenting, Sexual Health
  3. Living in the Wider World – Careers, fire/road safety, Prevent, British Values
